Fire hits apartments under construction near NCSU in Raleigh

From staff reportsMay 31, 2013

— Fire broke out in a luxury-apartment building under construction at 910 Tryon Hill Drive in Raleigh on Friday morning, and firefighters battled heavy smoke that was held in the building by closed windows and doors on several floors of the building.

Firefighters stretched several hoses into the building to fight the flames, yet bystanders could see no smoke because it was all contained inside the building.

There were no injuries reported to firefighters or to construction workers who evacuated the building and watched from the street and a plaza.

The building is part of a large number of apartments that can be seen from West Morgan Street, near N.C. State University.

The site is being developed by Faison and Associates of Charlotte.

They have been leasing units.
