Girl Scout uses tennis to teach lessons about health

Kara Eleni Summerford of Raleigh has earned the Gold Award, the highest achievement in Girl Scouting.

For her Gold Award project, Kara organized a health and tennis clinic for the Boys & Girls Club of Wake County. Her clinic promoted healthy eating and exercise while teaching the fundamentals of tennis.

Kara, the daughter of Allen and Tula Summerford, is a member of Troop 837 and a sophomore at Broughton High School.
