From Staff ReportsJune 4, 2013

— Westbound traffic on Interstate 40 slowed to an estimated 5 mph about 6:30 a.m. Tuesday when two accidents happened near the Jones Sausage Road exit and the U.S. 70 interchange.

Police, state DOT trucks and the vehicles involved were in the median at one scene at the 303 mile marker and on the right shoulder at the 306 mile marker, but the incidents slowed traffic nonetheless.

The state Department of Transportation posted a notice that traffic was moving at 5 mph between the N.C. 42 interchange in Johnston County and the merger of U.S. 70 and I-40 just inside Wake County.

Raleigh police and state troopers were handling the accidents, where one person was reported injured.
