Statistically speaking: Business group to release jobs report

In the past three months, 47 percent of small-business owners hired or attempted to hire, according to the National Federation of Independent Business’ May Small Business Jobs Report. The complete report is due out Tuesday. Here are other findings:

19 percent of owners reported job openings they could not fill.

38 percent reported few or no new qualified applicants for open positions.

12 percent of owners reduced employment.
