Campbell extends baseball coach Goff

— Greg Goff, who led Campbell baseball to a school-record 49 wins and a national ranking this season, has been signed to a long-term contract extension as the Camels coach, Director of Athletics Bob Roller announced Tuesday.

The contract runs through the 2018 season with another built-in extension that could extend the deal to 2021.

The Camels have won 90 games over the last two seasons, posting the school’s first pair of 40-win campaigns, winning the Big South’s North Division title and finishing as the conference tournament runner-up. The team posted 41 wins in 2012.

Goff is 336-237 in 10 seasons as a collegiate coach, including a 183-153 mark in six years in Buies Creek. He was named the Camels’ coach in 2007 after four seasons at Montevallo.


Campbell: Women’s coach Wanda Watkins announced that D Brown, a transfer from Carl Albert State, has signed a grant-in-aid agreement to play with the Camels. She is eligible play this fall.

Brown averaged 13.5 points, 2.7 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game last season on her way to making the National Junior College Athletic Associationa All-Region II team.

Duke: Duke sophomore Rasheed Sulaimon is one of 26 players scheduled to participate in the USA Basketball men’s U19 World Championship Team training camp that begins Friday at Colorado Springs, Colo.

Other participants include, Connecticut guard and N.C. State transfer Rodney Purvis, Devin Thomas (Wake Forest), Robert Carter (Georgia Tech), Marcus Georges-Hunt (Ga. Tech) and Mike Tobey (Virginia).
