Cary man charged after 1 woman killed, 1 hurt in hit-run near NC State

— A Cary man has been arrested and charged in the hit-and-run death of an 18-year-old woman, one of two pedestrians struck as they attempted to cross Hillsborough Street shortly before 1 a.m. Saturday.

Raleigh Police officials said they arrested Adetoye Tasheed Adekanmbi, 33, Saturday at his home on East Chalfont Way and charged him with two counts of felony hit and run and driving on a revoked license.

Witnesses described the car involved in the incident as a dark Volkswagen, which police said was discovered at Adekanmbi’s address with damage to the front end and windshield.

Natalie Chidlaw was pronounced dead at the scene and Meghan Clarke, 18, was admitted to WakeMed with serious injuries following the collision near N.C. State and the intersection of Hillsborough Street and Dixie Trail.
