Scout builds bench around tree

Gavin H. Pennuto of Durham has earned the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest achievement in Boy Scouting.

For his Eagle project, Gavin built a large bench around the trunk of a weeping cherry tree at Asbury United Methodist Church in Durham and created a brick pathway leading to it.

Gavin, the son of Ken and Tracy Pennuto, is a member of Troop 405 and attends Voyager Academy High School in Durham.
