Dorothy Alice Jackson Coulter

Dorothy Alice Jackson Coulter, 92, went peacefully into Heaven on Friday, June 7, 2013, at Whitestone’s Care and Wellness Center in Greensboro, NC. She was born on May 15, 1921 to Edward and Ola Mae Paschall Jackson in Sango, TN. Dottie attended Clarksville High School and went to work for B. F. Goodrich during World War II. She met her husband, Ray, on a blind date during World War II and it was “love at first sight.” She “retired” many times and finally stopped working at age 75. She was a member of the Eastern Star for the majority of her adult life. Dottie loved to play the piano and sang in the choirs at Wrightsville Beach United Methodist Church and St. James United Methodist Church in Raleigh, NC.

She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Raymond Bernard Coulter, Jr., of Greensboro, NC; three children, Lynda Lewis of Fernandina Beach, FL, Bernard Edward Coulter of Wilmington, NC, and Jo Ellen Hooker of Duluth, GA; six grandchildren; and, six great-grandchildren.

A service to celebrate Dottie’s life is scheduled for June 22, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel at the Mason’s Whitestone Retirement Community in Greensboro, NC located at 700 S. Holden Road, Greensboro, NC.

A reception will follow the service in the Fellowship Hall at Whitestone.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made in Dottie’s memory to Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro (2500 Summit Avenue, Greensboro, NC 27405) or St. James United Methodist Church (3808 St. James Church Road, Raleigh, NC 27604).
