WAKE COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE

— An Apex man was being held without bail Monday for a court appearance in Raleigh after his arrest Friday night on charges that he attacked two people with a butcher knife.

Holly Springs officers arrested Nicholas Joseph Roberts, 28, at his home at 905 James St. in Apex shortly before midnight Friday, according to their arrest report.

Roberts was charged with two counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and one count each of assault on a female and communicating threats.

The assault charges are felonies, the other two are misdemeanors.

According to arrest warrants, Roberts cut the hand of Shannon Nicole Sidney with a butcher knife after saying he was going to kill her.

The second assault charge involves a minor, the warrants indicate, and there were no details about any injuries.

Police said Sidney was assaulted Friday, but not where in Holly Springs they believed it happened.
