Zoo’s wildlife rehab center to hold fundraiser

— The North Carolina Zoo’s Valerie H. Schindler Wildlife Rehabilitation Center will release a rehabilitated barred owl as the highlight of a fundraiser to be hosted by Randolph County’s Zimmerman Vineyards, 1428 Tabernacle Road in Trinity, on Friday at 6 p.m.

The owl is one of thousands of native animals rehabilitated at the Schindler Center since it was opened in 2001.

Admission is $30 for N.C. Zoological Society Members or $35 for non-members, and includes two glasses of Zimmerman Vineyard’s wine along with goat cheese plates and hors d’oeuvres provided by Goat Lady Dairy, also of Randolph County.

A portion of all proceeds will go the center.
