Harvey Davis: Let SBI probe Rural Center

Let SBI probe Rural Center

The June 16 news story “Rural Center cash helps politicians, the powerful” and the information that politicians, Art Pope and others are using the Rural Center as their own source of funds comes as no surprise to most of us.

Even though the Rural Center was developed to give funding for job generation, I do not think it was meant to update a shopping center so Pope could build yet another Roses store.

Is he not supposed to use his own money generated from his own business to build his future business?

The taxpayer should not have to help. This smacks of corruption. Why have the taxpayers spend their money to help him open yet another Roses?

It is no wonder that our Republican legislators want the State Bureau of Investigation under the governor’s power. The SBI needs to investigate this and see what is going on in our state.

Republican voters need to please wake up and smell the truth – they, too, deserve better than this.
