Gary L. Jurkiewicz: A student to be admired

A student to be admired

The young man you talked about in your June 10 news story, “13 years of perfect attendance,” is more than just about perfect attendance.

Keenen Herring is a role model for all students. This is about commitment, determination, fortitude and perseverance. This is about a young man’s morals and values. He knows what is important, and I do not believe it is just the perfect attendance record. It is about who this young man is and what he stands for.

Many employers or mangers would love to have this kind of dedication from all of their employees. Of course, it is understandable that people need time off from work or school for certain situations, but Herring seemed to just work past those obstacles. He definitely is not the norm, but someone’s behavior others should try to mirror.

Congratulations Keenen Herring! Be proud!
