From staff reportsJune 21, 2013

— An 18-year-old man was critically injured Thursday night when he was struck by a car at Crossroads Boulevard at Jones Franklin Road in Cary, authorities said.

Mohamed Farhan of Raleigh was crossing from an apartment complex toward a nearby shopping center about 9:45 p.m. when a southbound car driven by Kelsey Pittman, 22, of Apex struck him, said town spokeswoman Carrie Roman.

Farhan was taken to WakeMed Hospital in Raleigh with life-threatening injuries and was reported to be in critical condition Friday morning, Roman said.

Pittman was not hurt, she said.

No charges were filed, but police are continuing their investigation, Roman said.

The intersection was closed until after midnight while police crash reconstruction investigators documented what had happened, Roman said.

Pittman and several witnesses gave police accounts of what happened, she added.
