Unfortunately, Senate Bill 515 is the epitome of what we’ve come to expect from our current General Assembly.
Instead of taking responsibility for cleaning up the messes we’ve made and protecting the North Carolina we will leave behind for our children, some Republican lawmakers want to simply turn their heads and their noses and ignore the importance of clean water and clean air – supposedly under the auspices of fiscal responsibility.
They want to scrap the current Jordan Lake cleanup plan before letting it work, and instead start all over again. What they’re really trying to do is keep delaying the cleanup with hopes they get re-elected and our pollution problems will simply go away, essentially passing the buck and leaving the burden to a future generation of North Carolinians. That’s not good governance. That’s irresponsibility.
