Caswell "Ray" Strickland, Jr.

Caswell “Ray” Strickland, Jr. 55, passed away at home on Saturday June 22nd. Ray was the son of Mavis K. Strickland and the late Caswell Ray Strickland, Sr. He was a North Carolina native and grew up in the Falls Community, just north of Raleigh. After graduating from N.C. State University, he owned and operated two textile businesses: Industrial Fabrics and Caswell Enterprises. But, Ray’s real passion in life was heading out to sea in the early morning as the sun was rising. He enjoyed sharing his love of fishing with friends and family whenever possible.

Ray leaves behind a family that will miss him greatly. He is survived by his mother, Mavis Strickland; sister, Hope Dobey and partner Tim Pflaum; his niece, Angel Dobey and fiancé Dave Brown; his nephew, Joshua Dobey; loving aunts, uncles, cousin and friends, all of whom were very special to Ray.

Graveside funeral services will be held 2 o’clock Tuesday afternoon June 25, 2013 at the Falls Community Cemetery with Rev. Dr. Terry Ashe officiating. Following the service, family and friends will gather in the Falls Baptist Church reception hall.

The family would like to thank Hospice of Wake County for their care and support during Ray’s illness and ask that any memorial contributions be given to Hospice to further their important work, 250 Hospice Circle Raleigh, NC 27607.
