Three sports stars with North Carolina ties will bare all in ESPN The Magazine’s annual “Body Issue,” which hits newsstands July 12.

Former UNC ace and current New York Mets phenom Matt Harvey, Washington Wizards point guard and Raleigh native John Wall and Greensboro native and tennis player John Isner will be among the 21 athletes in the issue.

“Each year, we stop to admire the vast potential of the human form,” reads an explainer of the annual issue on ESPN.com. “To unapologetically stand in awe of the athletes who’ve pushed their physiques to profound frontiers.”

Harvey pitched for the Tar Heels from 2008-10, going 22-7, and was selected seventh overall by the Mets. He’s 7-1 for the Mets this season and has the second-best ERA (2.05) in the National League.

Wall, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2010 NBA draft, graduated from Raleigh’s Word of God Christian Academy before spending one year at the University of Kentucky. He averaged 18.5 points per game last season for Washington.

Isner is the 21st-ranked player in the world. He moved on to the second round of Wimbledon on Monday after a three-set opening-round victory.

Among the other athletes posing nude or semi-nude for the magazine are NHRA driver Courtney Force, San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick and 77-year-old golfer Gary Player.
