Garner chase leads to arrest after Wake deputy's car rammed

From staff reportsJune 26, 2013

— A 22-year-old man was charged Wednesday with assault on a Wake County sheriff's deputy and fleeing to elude police during an early morning chase over several Garner roads.

Marquino Ardeliss Anderson was arrested after he rammed a car he was driving into a sheriff’s department cruiser driven by Dep. M.D. Johnson, according to an arrest warrant charging him with assault on a government official.

Garner police charged Anderson with fleeing to elude three officers who chased him after being alerted to a possible stolen car.

The chase went east on U.S. 70 and then onto Timber Drive, Benson Road and White Oak Road before turning west back onto U.S. 70, according to the warrant charging Anderson.

In their warrants, officials listed Anderson as living at 105 Bayberry Lane in Garner. An arrest report, however, lists him as having no permanent address.

Anderson was being held in lieu of $150,000 bail pending a court appearance Wednesday.

Wake County sheriff’s Capt. James Stevens said Johnson was not hurt.
