Joel Adams: North Hills train station?

June 26, 2013

I noted with interest in the June 20 business story about an 18-story office tower slated for North Hills. Is it ironic that two office towers have been announced for downtown that are 11 and 13 stories? It would appear that in the downtown area, where land is less available and more expensive, developers would be planning the taller towers.

It is noteworthy that a 17-story tower has already been erected in North Hills next door to the planned 18-story tower. Will the city center eventually shift north? If so, for the distant future, should the city rethink Union Station being developed downtown?

Perhaps a multi-modal station with adequate parking could be developed in the North Hills area.
