Power outage hits Raleigh’s Glenwood district

— A series of power outages affected traffic lights along a stretch of Glenwood Avenue near downtown Friday morning and knocked out service to about 1,200 people, Progress Energy reported.

Police officers were dispatched to direct traffic, and Progress crews were dispatched to repair the problem.

An unconfirmed report said a substation had failed.
