The energy part
Many fracking issues were covered well by Charles Ritter’s June 27 Point of View article “Faulty math amid other fracking frights.” Ritter showed that the jobs part of the title of Senate Bill 76 was not on solid ground. The other part of the title, “Domestic Energy,” is also questionable. Last month the Energy Department gave permission for an additional company to export natural gas. More are expected to follow. With prices for natural gas 3 times higher in Europe and 5 times higher in Japan, it may be that little of North Carolina’s natural gas will stay at home. We will definitely get to keep the mystery chemicals injected into our ground.
