Bank of North Carolina, a regional bank owned by BNC Bancorp, announced Friday it will open a fifth location in the Triangle early next year.

The 4,600 square foot space, which sits at the intersection of Creedmoor Road and Bridgeport Drive in North Raleigh’s Stonehenge area, will open in early 2014. President and CEO Rick Callicutt said the new branch will employ about a dozen people and cost the company about $2 million to open.

“The branch purchase allows us to deepen our growth in the Triangle market; an area where we’re committed to growing our franchise,” Callicutt said.

The space will be the High Point bank’s third Wake County branch; the other two are in Raleigh and Cary. The bank operates two additional Triangle offices, in Durham and Chapel Hill.

Callicutt said the bank has made seven acquisitions in the past two and a half years, including Blue Ridge Savings Bank in Asheville, Beach First National Bank in Myrtle Beach, S.C., Regent Bank in Greenville, S.C. and First Trust Bank in Charlotte.

The company announced a $10.4 million merger with Randolph Bank & Trust Co. last month.
