Christopher Gergen and Stephen Martin’s analysis in the June 23 Work & Money section of the Republicans’ “tax reform” was totally right on. I am continually amazed that the so-called “party of business” is pursuing a policy in total ignorance of the factors that really promote business growth, justified only, perhaps, by the largely discredited Reagan-era idea of trickle-down economics.
I can only assume that the Republicans want to rake off as much tax savings as possible for themselves and their wealthy friends before they are discredited and state-supported institutions and infrastructure crumble away. With most of their children and grandchildren apparently safely enrolled in private schools, they don’t seem to give a hoot.
Let’s hope at least a few of the less moribund of them read Gergen and Martin’s analysis and think twice before decimating North Carolina.
