James P. Davidson: Same ol’ boss

Same ol’ boss

Claude Pope’s June 23 pontification “No morality to protesters” should not have been dignified as a Point of View. A letter, maybe.

He is right about the 2012 elections being a protest at the polling booth. Now he would limit access with Voter ID requirements and curtailing early voting. He is right that the Democratic Party got what it deserved and that it was the result of years of corruption, cronyism and wasteful spending.

His party is looting the state government apparatus, knowing full well that its regime will be temporary. As The Who sang it: “Meet the new boss: same as the old boss.” New masters, same corruption, cronyism and wasteful spending.

The GOP legacy moves full speed toward an engineering of the tax code to further destroy the middle class. Soon we will elect the House of Lords and the House of Commons. By far, however, the greatest evil issuing from the GOP war plans is the assault on the Bill of Rights, in this particular instance, the right of free speech and to demonstrate.
