Raleigh man held on $1 million bail in beating of woman in her home

— Xavier Terrell Harris was being held Monday in lieu of $1 million bail, accused of pinning down a 54-year-old woman Sunday and repeatedly punching her in the face while threatening to kill her.

Harris, 33, is charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, second-degree kidnapping, and breaking and entering. Arrest warrants list no permanent address for him.

Harris served time in prison from October 1997 to April 2000 after being convicted of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill in Wake County, according to state prison records.
