Jeff King: Missed bill takes toll

Missed bill takes toll

As our government concerns itself with private banks that charge too much for overdraft fees, I found it somewhat ironic to receive a bill for $31 recently for a $3.40 missed payment to the I-540 tollway. Not only is it the most expensive tollway in the country per mile, it already has raised its rates!

We had transponders for both of our cars, but a son (who rarely travels on the road) did not, and the bill was missed. With a bank, we can elect to bring our business elsewhere.

If we don’t pay this “highway robbery”? We can’t register our cars. One more example of a government that has gotten completely out of hand.
