Motorcyclist dies in two-vehicle crash in Garner

— A motorcyclist was killed Friday when another motorist turned into his path at approximately 11:15 am on the 1600 block of Old Garner Road.

William Joseph DeGrace, 33, of Garner, was traveling west on the motorcycle on Old Garner Road when Hugh Bailey, 89, of Raleigh, traveling east, attempted to turn left into a private driveway, according to police reports.

Bailey pulled into the path of the motorcycle which struck the right passenger side of his 1996 Ford pick-up truck.

Speed and alcohol were not factors in the accident. Charges are pending. The name of the motorcycle driver had been withheld upon notification of the family, police said. DeGrace was named as the motorcyclist Saturday.
