Robotics team makes it to regional finals

The Hitchhikers, a FIRST Robotics team composed of 22 local high school students, were named regional finalists at the N.C. FIRST Robotics Competition Regional Tournament at Dorton Arena in Raleigh last spring.

The team competed against 55 other teams with a robot they designed, built and programmed named Trillian.

The team co-captains were Henry Moree of Holly Springs and Sam Mahl of Wake Forest. Christian Colglazier of Cary was the programming lead, Keegan Pierce of Raleigh was the mechanical lead, Megan McGrew of Apex was spirit lead and Carl Colglazier of Cary was media lead. Also on the team were Austen Adler, Blake Atkinson, David Brain, Will Brown, Daniel Christie, Bethany Colglazier, Ford Danielsen, Sahil Dhawan, Sidd Gandhi, Corey Goodfred, Stuart Jones, Nicholas Losi, Nick Roberts, JJ Sangvacharakul, Chirag Shankar and Lee Struble.

Serving as mentors and coaches were Joe Losi, Zack Coutant and Daniel Gross.
