I was pleasantly surprised to read that Marc Landry supports compulsory medical insurance (“Health insurers’ impunity,” July 3 column).
At least that’s the conclusion implied by his strong endorsement of the Swiss health care system. It is one of the best in the world, with basic services provided by private companies operating under the Swiss Federal Office of Public Health. Individuals can also buy supplementary private insurance.
This is the kind of insurance our country ought to have, and the support of conservatives like Landry will certainly help to bring that day closer.
