Hilton Cancel: Valone reckless

Reckless ‘reward’

As a retired police officer and a concealed carry permit holder of 27 years, I had the privilege of attending the Gabby Giffords and Mark Kelly event July 7.

I was extremely alarmed by the statement made by Paul Valone of Grass Roots N.C., as reported in The N&O, that he had offered a bounty/reward of 100 rounds of ammunition to anyone who could reveal the shooting range that would be used by former U.S. Rep. Giffords, herself a victim of gun violence, and her husband.

Had his bounty/reward resulted in any physical harm, Valone would have been quick to exercise his First Amendment right of free speech.

I find Valone's offer to be reckless and irresponsible and his actions to be those of a bully. He does not speak for the majority of us gun owners and concealed carry holders in N.C.
