Gordon N. Peedin

Gordon Neil Peedin, 88, was born in Johnston County, the oldest son of the late James Larkin Peedin and Sarah Sadie Boykin Peedin. He was preceded in death by his two brothers, Norman Peedin and Jimmy Peedin and a sister, Golda Peedin Davis.

Gordon was an avid golfer and horseman. He served in the U.S. Army 76th Infantry Division from September 1944 until July 1946 and fought in the Battle of the Bulge during World War II.

Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Anne Whitaker Peedin; daughter, Kim Peedin of Raleigh; and son, Neil Peedin of Durham; sisters, Rachel Peedin Johnson of Smithfield, Vel Peedin Luck and husband Al of Stuart’s Draft, VA, and Wilma Oliver Baker of Pine Level; Sisters-in-law Edna P Jackson of Pine Level and Janice G. Peedin of Smithfield; several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home Saturday at 5:00 PM. The family will receive friends following the service. A private burial will be held in Sunset Memorial Park in Smithfield at a later date.
