Richard Howell is a professional basketball player.
After going undrafted in last months NBA draft, Howell signed Friday with French club BCM Gravelines Dunkerque.
Howell joins former N.C. State player Danny Strong the current coach for Fuquay-Varinas basketball team as a member of the French club and was the first rookie signed by the team this summer.
BCM has won two championships in the past three years in the Leaders Cup, known as the Semaine des As.
Howell averaged 12.7 points and 10.9 rebounds last season for the Wolfpack. A native of Marietta, Ga., Howell is currently playing in the Las Vegas Summer League with the Denver Nuggets and is scheduled to play Saturday against the Milwaukee Bucks.
Howell is the second Wolfpack player from last seasons team to land a pro contract this summer.
C.J. Leslie wasnt drafted, but he signed a partially guaranteed contract with the New York Knicks. Leslie also is playing in the Las Vegas Summer League.
Lorenzo Brown, the lone member of the team to be drafted, hasnt signed with the Minnesota Timberwolves, who took him in the second round.
Brown told Fox Sports in Minnesota that he hopes to make the team and isnt sure of any other plans to play in the D-League or Europe.
Scott Wood, who set N.C. States career record for 3-pointers, is playing for the Los Angeles Clippers summer league team. Wood, along with Tar Heels first-round pick Reggie Bullock, started summer-league play against Atlanta on Friday.
