Police say Wake landfill supervisor took recycled computer parts

— A supervisor at the Wake County’s landfill on Old Smithfield Road has been charged with embezzlement by a public official for what police said was taking recycled appliances and computers parts.

David Earl Barbee, 47, of 101 Fairhaven St. in Apex was arrested at the landfill Monday afternoon, according to an arrest report.

Apex police charged him with one count of embezzlement, saying in a warrant that he worked as an on-duty supervisor at the county facility.

Waste Industries Inc. operates the landfill for the county.

Barbee was freed on $500 bail.
