Hockey in July
Summer is the saddest season for local hockey fans, but at least we have the Hurricanes Summerfest at PNC Arena. Highlights include the final practice of the prospects development camp, autograph sessions, a slap-shot booth and various games and special guests. No fighting!

In commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the World War II Battle of Kursk, Cambridge Village in Apex will host a Russian Music and Dance Festival with performers on tour from St. Petersburg and Georgia. That’s Georgia as in Tbilisi, not Savannah.

Monkey see ...
The children’s musical band Recess Monkey (sound it out) returns to Carrboro’s ArtsCenter with a repertoire of sing-along songs about superheroes, space and the circus. Can’t argue with that.

The Cary Veterans of Foreign Wars will host the 4th Annual Custom Car and Motorcycle Show, with live music, a silent auction, local crafts and Carolina BBQ. All proceeds go to VFW support programs.
