Local teens shine at neuroscience Brain Bee

From staff reportsJuly 21, 2013

Two students were named local winners in the 2013 USA National Brain Bee Championship.

Pranavi Sanka of Durham and Meghana Ganapathiraju of Raleigh represented the Triangle at the neuroscience competition this spring at the University of Maryland in Baltimore. Pranavi is a recent graduate of Raleigh Charter High School and plans to attend UNC-Chapel Hill this fall. Meghana is a rising sophomore at Green Hope High School in Cary.

The bee tests high school students’ knowledge of the human brain with oral contests, a neuroanatomy lab test, brain imaging identification and mock patient diagnosis.
