Carrboro teen picked for ANNpower leadership program

From staff reportsJuly 21, 2013

Tali Tudryn, a rising junior at Carrboro High School, was named an ANNpower Fellow, a leadership and social change program sponsored by Ann Taylor parent company Ann Inc. and Vital Voices.

As one of 50 fellows selected from around the country, Tali was invited to attend the ANNpower Vital Voices Leadership Forum last spring, where she received leadership training and mentoring from female leaders in a variety of fields. Speakers included former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, actress Kate Hudson and Valerie Jarrett, senior adviser to President Obama. Each fellow is eligible for grants to put their ideas for social change into action.

“I am really passionate about women’s issues and rights and social justice here in the United States,” Tali is quoted as saying on the program’s website. “I am in my school’s Global Poverty Reading Group, and we have learned a lot about fighting global poverty. One day I hope to travel to every country in the Middle East extensively.”
