Seymour advocate for poor

With reference to Dr. Robert Seymour’s “Poor and prejudice” in the July 21 paper: I have had the good fortune of being a friend of his for 53 years. He has always fought for the poor in our society.

He is right in saying we have in this country today a pervasive prejudice against the poor. Sen. Lindsay Graham of South Carolina recently said, “most people on public assistance don’t have a character flaw – they just have a tough life.”
