Philip Hayden: Fairness proposal

Fairness proposal

N.C. is poised to enact sweeping election law changes, in the name of fixing the dubious problem of “voter fraud” (“Big election changes draw closer” July 24).

Some might not be aware, though, that one of the provisions apparently increases the maximum allowable personal campaign contribution from $4,000 to $5,000.

I offer a compromise proposal, in the name of voting fairness and equality: To ensure the integrity of the concept “one person, one vote,” we also limit each person, PAC or other entity to contribute just $1 to each political candidate, thereby ensuring that no one voter has any more political pull than any other voter. (Remember: “corporations are people”). Anyone interested?
