Man charged with appliance theft from Garner home

From staff reportsJuly 30, 2013

— Police arrested a man Monday night on a charge of breaking into a house in May and taking a television, a washer, a dryer and a love seat.

Michael Sean Mims, 42, of 206 W. Garner Road, was arrested at his home on a warrant charging breaking and entering and larceny after breaking in.

Lt. Chris Clayton, a Garner police spokesman, said the victim of the May 8 break-in lived in the same neighborhood as Mims’ parents, and they suspected that Mims knew the person was out of town for work.

The case began to come together when someone who had been given something from the burglary had a disagreement with Mims and told police about the item, Clayton said.

Clayton said police believe Mims was able to take the items himself, and they are not looking for other suspects.

Mims was being held in lieu of $10,000 bail for a court appearance Tuesday.
