Ike David Simmons: 8/ 1/2013, 645779. 5'09", 220. Charged with: FIRST DEGREE SEX OFFENSE CHILD.

— Police on Friday charged a registered sex offender from Fayetteville with first-degree sexual offense with a 12-year-old.

Ike David Simmons, 37, has been a registered sex offender since 2003 when he was convicted in military court of sexual misconduct with a 15-year-old. That incident took place outside the state.

Apex police say the new charges stem from several incidents in 2009 that were reported by the 12-year-old. Police Capt. Ann Stephens said Simmons and the 12-year-old knew one another, but she declined to comment further.

Police expect to file more charges in the case, Stephens said.

Simmons is not considered a predator, according to the N.C. Sex Offender Registry. He remained at the Wake County jail Friday under $500,000 bail.
