Keith Crisco: Yadkin River important to N.C.

August 5, 2013

Right on river

Regarding the Aug. 3 article “State suit challenges Alcoa property rights”: I thank Gov. Pat McCrory and Sec. Bill Daughtridge for the stand they took. The governor hit the nail on the head when he said, “The benefits of the Yadkin River belong to North Carolina’s people.”

The Yadkin River is a natural resource that can bring growth and jobs and a brighter future to this part of North Carolina. The river belongs to North Carolina as a public trust – not to Alcoa. The governor’s decision is an example of the kind of leadership North Carolina needs.
