Raleigh teen wins state DAR contest

Caroline Vanyo of Raleigh won first place at the state level in the Daughters of the American Revolution National Society’s American History Essay Contest.

She was recognized at the N.C. DAR convention last spring, and her essay, “Forgotten Patriots Who Supported the American Struggle for Independence,” went on to compete at the national competition. Her essay was first given first-place honors and selected for competition by the local Micajah Bullock Chapter of the DAR.

Caroline was a seventh-grader last year at St. Timothy’s School in Raleigh.
