Beltline patching starts near Rock Quarry Road Monday

August 11, 2013

— Construction crews will begin night-time work on the I-440 Beltline starting Monday, preparation for a highway overhaul that will cause lane and shoulder closings during the next several months.

Workers will be patching both the east and westbound lanes between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m., starting in the westbound lanes near Rock Quarry Road.

During the next several months, the project will cover the area between the interchange at U.S. 1/64 interchange at exit 293 and the I-40/440 split at exit 301.

The patching marks the preliminary part of the $130 million I-40/440 project, which will cause major construction work starting in 2014. For travel information, call 511, see the NCDOT Web site or follow the highway agency on Twitter.
