Saltwater

Oregon Inlet

Nearshore, triggerfish and Spanish mackerel are biting. Inshore, speckled trout and cobia have been caught. Offshore boats brought in limits of yellowfin tuna along with dolphin, blackfin tuna and billfish. Contact: Oregon Inlet Fishing Center 252-441-6301, www.oregon-inlet.com.

Buxton/Hatteras

Offshore boats caught good amounts of wahoo, dolphin, blackfin tuna, yellowfin tuna , blue marlin and sailfi sh . Nearshore, spots, flounder and speckled trout were caught. Surf anglers are still catching Spanish, drum and blues. Ocracoke/Portsmouth

Cape Lookout/Bogue Inlet

Topsail Island

Spanish, blues, sea mullet, black drum, spots and red drum have been caught inshore and on the beaches. Off the piers, blues, spots, flounder and king mackerel are biting. Wilmington/ Wrightsville Beach

Inshore fishing is still producing good drum, speckled trout, Spanish and flounder. Offshore, wahoo, dolphin, sea bass, billfish and bottom fish have been caught. Contact: Tex’s Tackle 910-791-1763, www.texstackle.com.

Freshwater

Falls Lake

Largemouth bass fishing has slowed down, but are being caught on Carolina rigs and crank baits as well as schooling in the morning and biting on topwater baits. Crappie have been caught deep on minnows. Catfish are doing well on doughballs, nightcrawlers, chicken livers and frozen shrimp. White bass are biting up the lake on rooster tails and blade baits. Kerr Lake

Largemouth bass are biting on soft plastics and crank baits. Crappiehave been caught on jigs around structures. Catfishare biting doughballs and chicken livers on the upper end. Shearon Harris Lake

Largemouth bass are biting crank baits at medium depths. Crappieare biting minnows and jigs at shallow to medium depths. Contact: The Tackle Box 919-557-8255; www.wmi.org.
