Susan Jordan: Sorry state

Sorry state

I was shocked when I read the Aug. 14 headline “Cash, but no apology, for wrongly imprisoned pair.” Every criminal complaint I’ve ever seen says “the State of NC vs. the accused.” As a member of this wonderful state, I grieve for these men who wrongly lost years of their lives while I and my family enjoyed ours. No judicial system composed of men and women can be perfect, but we should humbly apologize for our errors. Only huge egos or fear of lawsuits, which is cowardice, would cause those in power to remain silent. May God bless these men and their families and help them forget the way they have been treated. The state acted on my behalf so I apologize. I apologize!
