Top Carolinas high school football recruits

1. Elijah Hood, Charlotte Catholic, 5-11, 221, RB: Ran for 3,309 yards and 48 TDs in 2012. Was 2012 All-Observer Offensive Player of the Year. Committed to Notre Dame.

2. Kentavius Street, Greenville Rose, 6-2, 265, DE: Had 93 tackles, 19 tackles for a loss and 4.5 sacks last season. Has multiple ACC, SEC, Big 10 offers, plus Notre Dame.

3. Will Grier, Davidson Day, 6-3, 181, QB: Grier threw for nearly 900 yards in one game last season, finishing with an N.C.-record 69 touchdowns and 5,785 yards. Also ran for 813 yards and eight scores. Committed to Florida.

4. Lorenzo Featherston, Greensboro Page, 6-7, 202, DE: All-conference star had 64 tackles, including 24 for a loss and 14 sacks last season. Offers from Clemson, Michigan, North Carolina, N.C. State, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia

5. Derrell Scott, Havelock, 5-11, 184, RB: Ran 181 times for 1,742 yards and 35 TDs last season. Offers from ACC, SEC, Big 10 schools and East Carolina.

6. Bentley Spain, Providence, 6-6, 292, OT: Committed to UNC. Missed most of his junior season with a knee injury. Chose Tar Heels over Florida, LSU, Miami, Michigan, Penn State and South Carolina.

7. Jeb Blazevich, Charlotte Christian, 6-5, 233, TE: Preseason All-American committed to Georgia, made 2012 All-Observer first team.

8. Trevion Thompson, Durham Hillside, 6-2, 188, WR: Caught 42 passes for 735 yards and five TDs. Offers from ACC and SEC schools and Purdue, Vanderbilt and Virginia Tech.

9. Lamont Gaillard, Fayetteville Pine Forest, 6-4, 300, OT/DT: Had 100 tackles and four sacks last season. Committed to Georgia.

10. Donte Thomas-Williams, Durham Hillside, 6-0, 217, RB: Ran for 750 yards and six touchdowns in 2012. Has multiple Big East, Big Ten, ACC and SEC offers.

11. De’Andre Thompkins, Swansboro, 5-11, 176, ATH: Ran 175 times for 1,359 yards, 10 TDS in 2012; had 42 tackles on defense and returned five kicks for scores. Committed to Penn State.

12. William Richardson, Burlington Cummings, 6-5, 339, OL: Preseason all-state pick and 2012 all-conference selection committed to Virginia last May.

13. Jalan McClendon, West Mecklenburg, 6-4, 195, QB: N.C. State recruit threw for 1,400 yards, 11 TDs and led Hawks to one of the best seasons in school history

14. Robert Dinkins, Olympic, 6-2, 229, DE: All-conference star has committed to North Carolina. He runs the 40-yard dash in 4.9 seconds.

15. Chris Register, Greensboro Dudley, 6-3, 230, OLB: Committed to Clemson in May, runs a 4.6-second 40.

16. Braxton Berrios, Raleigh Leesville Road, 5-9, 181, WR: ACC, Big Ten, SEC recruit ran 155 times for 1,139 yards and 22 TDs. Had 766 receiving yards and 10 TDs.

17. Harold Landry, Fayetteville Pine Forest, 6-3, 230, TE/DE: Boston College recruit had 92 tackles and eight sacks last season.

18. Trip McNeill, Davie County, 6-5, 290, OL: Duke recruit was 2012 Associated Press all-state selection.

19. Kalen McCain, Durham Hillside, 6-1, 176, DB: All-conference star committed to N.C. State.

20. Cayson Collins, Berry, 6-1, 210, LB: North Carolina recruit is one of 10 starters back for the Cardinals.

21. Johnathan Lloyd, Southern Alamance, 6-0, 175, ATH: Passed for 1,440 yards and 14 TDs; ran for 1,219 yards and 19 TDs last season. Committed to Duke.

22. Jaylan Barbour, Monroe, 5-10, 164, WR: Wake Forest recruit missed several games in 2012 with an ankle injury; finished with 42 catches for 522 yards and four TDs.

23. Isaac Stewart, Butler, 6-1, 230, LB: Louisville commit is one of four returning defensive starters for 2012 N.C. 4AA champion.

24. Maurice Trowell, Southern Durham, 5-11, 173, WR: N.C. State recruit caught 48 passes last season for 931 yards, 11 TDs.

25. Germaine Pratt, High Point Central, 6-3, 200: 92 tackles, four intercptions and six pass breakups in 2012. N.C. State recruit .
