Teen volunteer recognized

Kristen Chung, a student at Green Hope High School in Cary, received this year’s Violet Richardson Award from Soroptimist International of Raleigh.

The award recognizes local girls age 14-17 for their volunteer work. Kristen was the volunteer in charge of communications and publications for Wags 4 Tags, a nonprofit that matches rescue dogs to veterans who need emotional and psychological support.

As part of the award, Kristen received $750, and Soroptimist International of Raleigh donated $250 donation to Wags for Tags. Kristen was recognized for her service at the group’s Triangle Women of Distinction Awards Celebration last spring.
