German skills earn scholarship

Emma Caterinicchio of Apex High School was awarded the 2013 Philip Watts Scholarship, which recognizes an outstanding senior student of German in the Wake County Public School System.

Emma was nominated for the scholarship, which honors the memory of a Broughton High School language teacher, by her German instructor, Paul Maseman.

The scholarship, awarded annually since 1986, is worth $1,500.

Emma plans to enter East Carolina University to study physical therapy and German.
