Raleigh boy still hospitalized following shooting Sunday

— Police are still looking for whoever fired the gunshot that hit a five-year-old boy as he was walking along Rock Quarry Road with two men Sunday.

The boy, whose name has not been released, remains at WakeMed, where he is being treated for a gunshot wound to the foot, according to Raleigh police.

The two men – Javon Tyrell Williams, 20, and Dejaun Bryant Pearsall, 30 – were not injured. The boy and the men know each other, police said.

The shooting took place about 12:15 p.m. on Rock Quarry Road near Cross Link Road, just south of the Beltline. A woman who reported the shooting said she had heard about eight gunshots, according to a recording of the 911 call made public Monday.
