Duran Lowe dismissed from Wake Forest football team

— Wake Forest senior free safety Duran Lowe has been dismissed from the football team for a violation of university policy.

Lowe, a native of Plant City, Fla., played in 31 career games, recording 91 tackles and making one interception.

Women’s Lacrosse

Duke: Coach Kerstin Kimel will welcome nine freshmen this fall as her team prepares for the 2014. The class of 2017 features players from four different states and is made up of Isabelle Montagne of Illinois, Casey Black of Maryland, Stuart Humphrey, Devon Russell, Paige Russell, Maura Schwitter and Hayley Shaffer of New Jersey and Caitlin Carey and Kitty Morrissey of Pennsylvania.

Men’s tennis

Duke: Henrique Cunha and Raphael Hemmeler, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) National Doubles Team of the Year, have been named to the ITA Collegiate All-Star Team and will be honored at the ITA Awards Luncheon Saturday at the USTA Billie Jean National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, N.Y.

Cunha and Hemmeler posted 39 doubles victories last season and advanced to the semifinals of the NCAA doubles championship in their first year playing together.
