Nancy Beichner: Curriculum change

August 20, 2013

Curriculum change

I have a daughter who will be graduating from N.C. State’s education department in May.

I have always been completely supportive and proud of her becoming a third generation teacher. She now also has my thorough encouragement to find employment in any state other than North Carolina.

I recently began my 20th year of full-time teaching. Every semester I have taken the time to explain to my chemistry students why they should seriously consider becoming teachers. I will give my speech again this semester, but now it will include reasons why they should pursue their teaching careers in other states.
